Margaret (Gorrell) Singer Obituary Margaret Singer 1924 - 2013 Margaret Singer, 89 of Findlay died at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013, at The Heritage. She was born in Findlay on February 3, 1924 to the late Otto Gorrell and Margaret Elizabeth (Peart) VanAtta. On September 22, 1956, she married Robert Singer and he preceded her in death on December 2, 2003. Margaret is survived by her step-daughter Francis Kay (Doug) Redman of Arlington, step-son Gary L. Singer of Arlington, 6 step-grandchildren, 11 step-great grandchildren and two brothers Vernon VanAtta of McComb and Wilbur Dean VanAtta of Findlay. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Richard Smith, her husband Robert, one brother Robert VanAtta and a sister Ruth Frankhouser. Margaret worked at Blanchard Valley Hospital for 13 years, Findlay College and the D.W.G. Cigar Factory. One of Margaret's passions was her volunteer work of which she spent 50 years with the Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxiliary where she spent more than 19,300 hours. She also volunteered for 23 years at Chopin Hall followed by the Nearly New Store, the Hospital Gift Shop and the Book Cellar at the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013, from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, where a Moose Ceremony will take place at 7:00 p.m. conducted by the Women of the Moose. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, with Pastor Chet Conley and Rev. Darwin Dunten officiating.
